The first Step everyone takes on their spiritual journey is to decide to follow Jesus. This is the moment where you recognize that you can’t do it on your own and that you are a sinner in need of Jesus to be your savior. It is at this point where you surrender and decide to do what God has instructed you to do in the Bible. This is the beginning of the greatest adventure you’ve ever been on.

After someone makes a commitment to Christ the next step in their journey is obedience. This takes place first through the act of baptism. Baptism is a visual representation of new life. As you are lowered into the water it symbolizes the death of your old way of life. As you emerge from the water it symbolizes the new birth that has happened as you have trusted Jesus as your Savior. This is a celebration for the whole church!

Jesus himself told his disciples that he did not come to be served but to serve others. One of the greatest things you can do as you learn to follow Jesus is to learn to care for and about other people. Our society has made it so we can primarily focus on us. We really don’t have to worry about others or even interact with other people if we don’t want to. The only way to break this is to serve other people. We encourage everyone to start serving others.

There are no lone rangers in the family of God. We were created to be in community with one another. We do that through our homestead groups. In the past people would start a homestead where they learned to cultivate the land and grow resources. We believe that everyone is called to be a homsteader in their own lives. You need to cultivate relationships, and spiritual disciplines. Small groups that meet every week is the best way to do that

As you grow and mature in your faith you will discover different habits and attitudes that you need to develop. One of the most important attitudes that you can develop is around generosity. Generosity encompasses all of life. It includes both financial and non financial areas of your life. Jesus specifically said that where we put our treasures is where our heart would be as well. We give God greater access to our hearts when we become generous.

There comes a point as you have gone through your journey with Jesus that you decide to partner with a specific group of believers (a church). This is an important step where you commit to help each other and love one another. We hope that as you grow in your faith you will desire to become a partner of Stillwater Cowboy Church and that through that partnership your life will thrive and our community will be forever changed as we journey with Jesus together.
